Boshamps Oyster House is gearing up for the inauguralBojamz for Planting Peace Festival. Bojamz will be an annual local music festival and charity fundraiser, the first of its kind for the restaurant.

“It’s a one-day festival and the goal is to raise money for Planting Peace,” said entertainment coordinator, Jared Cramblet. “We’ll bring good local and regional music together with the thought of raising money.”

Planting Peace is a non-profit organization founded ten years ago by Destin resident, Aaron Jackson. The organization works in a variety of national and international efforts including a de-worming project to help rid children in impoverished countries of deadly stomach parasites, a human rights initiative, The Equality House, a rainforest conservation effort, and orphanages in Haiti and India.

“Aaron went to school in this area, I recently formed a friendship with him,” said Cramblet.

Representatives for Planting Peace told The Log that the Destin community has been very supportive of the organization and held several fundraisers in the past.

Although the festival is free, a suggested $10 donation will be taken at the entrance for Planting Peace, and a silent auction is scheduled during the event.

“We have 15 to 20 items to auction including a $1300 paddle board donated by BOTE Paddleboards,” said Cramblet. “We have lots of really cool stuff to auction.”

Bojamz will feature five bands; The Heavy Pets, Heritage, Continuum, Dismal Creek and Theodore Von.
