With Mother's Day upon us, The Log asked our Facebook friends to share a picture of them with their mother and a thought or two about what makes them special. From The Log to you, we wish all of the mothers out there the happiest of days.
My mom, Judee Buxton has always been a HUGE positive motivator and influence in my life and my children's. I'm a single mom of four and she has role modeled perseverance, courage, class and integrity throughout her life and if I can even be a fraction of who she is ... then I've done the best I can as a mother as well and those values/morals will continue to be passed on generation to generation.

"My mother lost her mother at the age of 13 and her father passed away a couple years later, so for her having her own family was always her biggest prayer in life. She has taught me so much about kindness, strength and forgiveness. I couldn’t begin to describe how grateful I am to have her for my mother. I love you, Mom!"
My mother's name is Veronica Medina. She has been a resident of Destin since 1984.

My mom, Carolyn Cox, is special because she always has a hug and a smile ready for me, along with her wisdom and the right words of encouragement when I need them.

Me and my mom, Shirl Boddie. She used to write a column for The Log called "Generally Speaking." Due to a massive stroke about four years ago she's paralyzed. She used to do amazing things — I never knew a woman that could literally be good at everything she did, from community theater and painting beautiful watercolors to her angelic voice and playing the piano. These years have been a huge challenge for a very active person, but she still amazes me daily with her courage. Love you mom!

Dava Angell and Lisa Firth come from a long line of "Angells", they bring a smile to everyone's face, a warmth to your heart, and turn your laugh into a giggle. They are hard working women, but know how to PLAY!!! I am blessed to call them Mom and Grandma, and hope I will grow to be an "Angell" just like these ladies. Thank you for always being there for us!
