When city leaders meet for Wednesday night's City Council meeting, they will be asked to take over a private roadway.
Tracie Martin, representing the CAM Firm LLC, will make a presentation regarding Regions Way, a stretch of private road that run from U.S. Hwy. 98, near the Waffle House and Pep Boys behind The Destin Log office, to Crystal Beach Drive.
Martin will ask city leaders to "take over" the private road.
According to information from the Okaloosa County Property Appraiser's website, the roadway is currently owned by Regions Way of Destin LLC. The company is listed as inactive, according to Sunbiz.org, the Florida Department of State Division of Corporations website.
Local attorney David Pleat is listed as the registered agent, while Mike Hewitt, Inc., KSL Inc., and a Lovencie Gambarella are also listed as "managers." Mike Hewitt Inc. and KSL Inc. are also listed as inactive corporations.
The right of way was last sold in 2007 via a warranty deed for $100, when it changed hands from Regions Way Inc. to Regions Way of Destin LLC.
In other city business, city leaders will hold first readings for the proposed 2015 millage rate and budget. Sunshine Shuttles is scheduled to make a presentation to the council.
Wednesday night's City Council meeting will be held at the City Hall Annex, next to the Destin Dog Park, at 6 p.m. The meeting is open to the public. For a complete agenda, visit www.cityofdestin.com.
