When news broke that a Crystal Beach-based treatment facility was expanding to allow more residents, there was plenty of chatter on The Log’s Facebook page. Here’s what some of our social media friends had to say.
FloridaNative: My question is this....Why would a rehab facility want to be located right smack dab in the middle of a place where people obviously vacation and drink/drug? Isn't that kind of like feeding the disease? Not that all people on vacation drink/drug, but those on vacation are just that, on vacation.
William Pate: Great incentive for treatment
Rory J. Monroe: Not happy! They should move to Panama City!
Brent Andrew Tucker: No more! I've had one that escaped come up to my door in the middle of the night all jacked up on drugs
Tammy Farrell Oates: I'm sorry folks but it won't matter where the house is if these individuals are getting to treatment whereby there are folks who knows they haven't checked back in ... They will be looming around you anyway anywhere! Kuddos Destin! We need many more of these facilities!
Debbie Streit Hughes: I helped fight this fight with the city several years ago. I can't believe this was allowed in any residential neighborhood, wrong thing to do.
Jared Michael: I think it's great! People who seek treatment are sick, much like any other sickness.
Gina Davis: Everyone has their struggles and they have every right to seek treatment wherever needed. They are human too.
Joy Robinson: Businesses should not be allowed to be in our residential areas! Sounds like the city and county need to rezone and establish boundaries. If they are going under multi family...rezone for boundaries for multi and single family housing.
Schala Duckett: it's all about the dollar!
Jack Belter: Y'all are crazy! People go to rehab to better their lives. Get off your high horses and support that.
Chris Lambert:I've never had a problem with that facility or anyone in it and I too live a block away.
