Man accused of causing disturbance at Waffle House
A 34-year-old Destin man was charged with trespassing at Waffle House, 209 Harbor Blvd., and then spitting at a deputy after being arrested.
Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputies were called to Waffle House on Nov. 21 at 1:23 a.m. for a disturbance, according to the arrest report. The caller said a man was “refusing to order, harassing customers and being lewd and vulgar.”
When deputies arrived, they found Daniel Alan Settle, who had been issued a trespass warning from the business on Oct. 13, 2013, the report said. The manager said he’d asked Settle to leave, but Settle had refused.
Deputies asked Settle to set the cup of noodles he was eating down on the ground, but he refused, according to the report. He eventually dropped the noodles as he was being handcuffed.
He then spit the contents in his mouth at one of the deputies, hitting the deputy in the face, the report said.
He is charged with battery on an officer or firefighter and trespassing.
His next scheduled court date is Jan. 6.
Man allegedly caught doing drugs in restaurant bathroom
A 54-year-old Destin man is accused of using cocaine in the bathroom of a restaurant.
Two Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputies were working an off duty detail when security personnel at the restaurant told them someone was using drugs in the second stall of the men’s bathroom, according to the arrest report. Deputies entered the bathroom, finding it empty except for the second stall.
A deputy went and knocked on the door of the stall and Layne Dykes Roberts came out with “white powder residue under his nose,” the report said. When deputies arrested him, they found that he allegedly had a plastic bag with cocaine in one hand and a straw in the other.
During the arrest, Roberts said, “I don’t use all the time,” according to the report.
He is charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
His next scheduled court date is Jan. 6.
