More than 430 racers braved the chilly winds Saturday morning and raced in Destin’s Superhero Bayou, Bay & Back sponsored by Shoreline Church. The race featured a USATF-certified half marathon sponsored by Okaloosa Heart & Vascular Center, a USATF-certified 10K, a 5K run/walk, and a 1-mile kids fun run sponsored by Whataburger. Racers represented 28 states and two countries.
In the half marathon, the top male, Michael Green of Troy, Ala., finished at an impressive 1:14:03, and the top female, Christina Hammervold of Panama City, finished at 1:34:56. In the 10K, the top female, Line Lauritsen of Miramar Beach, finished at 38:41, and the top male, David Shearon, finished at 38:54. In the 5K Run, the top male, David Farnum, of Gulf Breeze, finished at 21:07, and the top female, Erin Eubanks of Destin, finished at 21:33. In the 5K walk, the top male, Robert Matheson of Defuniak Springs, finished at 38:45, and the top female, Julia Kearns of Fort Walton Beach, finished at 39:57.
