Witness reports man ‘screaming and yelling’ before breaking into restaurant
A 21-year-old man is charged with burglary after a witness reported seeing him running in front of a restaurant, “screaming and yelling.”
Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputies were called to Mimmo’s Ristorante Italiano around 3:30 a.m. on Jan. 25, according to the arrest report. Deputies found that the glass front door and window panels were “shattered” and holes had been “kicked or punched” into the drywall of the inside.
They also found Dylan Andrew Larson inside, describing him as “highly intoxicated, but cooperative,” the report said. The witness said he’d seen Larson running up and down the store front, then punching and kicking the door, shattering the glass.
Larson was unable to say how he’d come to be at the business and said he didn’t remember breaking the glass, according to the report. Damage was estimated at $3,000.
Larson is charged with criminal mischief over $1,000 and burglary of an unoccupied structure.
His next scheduled court date is March 3.
