It was a royal event at the First Baptist Church of Destin’s 10th annual Preschool Valentine’s Day ball. Decked out in their Sunday best, 32 preschoolers were made princes and princesses for the day complete with limousine rides and a visit from Disney royalties Cinderella and Prince Charming.
“Prince Charming and Cinderella from Enchanted Parties were a surprise for the kids this year,” said Preschool teacher and event organizer Debbie Palmer. “They were waiting in the limo for the kids.”
After a ride around the neighborhood, the children met their parents for a grand reception at the church with dancing, eating and celebrating in Valentine’s Day style.
Pink and red was the theme of the day with balloon arches, a kissing booth, tiers of cupcakes and a table spread with snacks from Chick-Fil-A, McGuire’s Irish Pub, Harry T’s, Dewey Destin’s and Lenny’s Sub Shop to name a few.
“Everything was donated for the ball, the children did fundraisers, local restaurants donated all the food, and lots of parents donated for the event,” said Palmer.
For the main event, children danced together and with their parents to tunes including the chicken dance, the cha-cha slide and conga. Before the ball was over the entire group had their pictures made with Cinderella and Prince Charming.
