An Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputy patrolling the area of Destiny West spotted a full-size pickup truck backing into multiple cars in the parking lot of the Crab Trap on Scenic Highway 98 in Destin Sunday afternoon, according to a press release from the OCSO.

When he stopped the driver to investigate, the teen initially turned off the truck – but while the deputy was talking to other vehicle owners, the teen started his truck and took off at a high rate of speed, causing additional damage to shrubs in the median.

After a short pursuit, the teen turned north into the parking lot of Captain Dave’s restaurant, driving through two separate privacy fences before jumping out of the truck and running. When he was caught, deputies found a counterfeit Tennessee driver’s license in his wallet which indicated his date of birth as 08/26/1993, when in fact his birthday is 8/26/1997.

Daniel Goodrich, 17, of College Grove Tennessee is charged with hit and run, aggravated fleeing and eluding, possession of a counterfeit driver’s license, and resisting arrest. Goodrich was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. Additional charges are pending.
