CRUISIN’ THE HARBOR: Miss Destin contestants hit the high seas ahead of pageant

The six young ladies vying for the title of Miss Destin took to the Destin harbor Tuesday as part of the annual Harbor Cruise aboard the Southern Star.

This year’s contestants are Adelle Adamson, Alyssa Bettinger, Lakin McKenzie Devaux, Alexandria Dougherty, Jesi Harrell and Haylie Nicole Starr.

Prior to the day at sea, the contestants were charged with creating a unique hat, which was given to them during the Miss Destin Soda Party. The hats had to reflect their personalities, but could not be identifiable.

 The hats were judged by members of the Miss Destin committee. Jesi Harrell’s design took the top spot, which earned her a special tote bag filled with goodies.

In addition to the hat judging, the young ladies were also briefed on what would take place between the cruise and the actual pageant.

Between now and April 24 the ladies will participate in a series of rehearsals for the actual Miss Destin Pageant, which will be held at the Destin Community Center April 24 at 7 p.m.
