It's not uncommon to see fish and other marine life was ashore in Destin, but over the weekend beach safety lifeguards saw something a lit bit different -- cocaine.

Public Information Officer Michele Nicholson from the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office told The Log a call came into the sheriff's office at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday regarding narcotics found on the beach behind Sandpiper Cove off of Crystal Beach Drive.

The cocaine, which investigators confirmed was 21 kilograms (roughly 46 pounds), has a street value of $600,000, Nicholson said. According to a press release from the OCSO, the cocaine was packaged into bricks and had a label on them which stated "Adidas."

This isn't the first time a large amount of drugs have been found in the area. In 2013, fishermen on a trip 2-3 miles out from Destin found 25 kilograms worth of cocaine floating in the water.

If anyone has information about the bale of cocaine that washed ashore, they are urged to call Crime Stoppers. A reward of up to $3,000 is available as part of the ongoing investigation.
