Destin Elementary School third graders got a chance to share a message for Earth Day by way of decorating paper grocery bags. Local grocery store, Winn Dixie supplied each third grade class with paper grocery bags and the students took three days to design and decorate them with Earth Day messages.
Bags reading, “Save Animals, Love the Earth,” and “Help Save the Earth Dude,” were among some of the creative messages accompanying drawings on the bags.
All nine of Destin Elementary School’s third grade classes participated in the community service project yielding more than 180 decorated paper bags. Today the bags will be used in Destin area Winn Dixie’s to those who request paper bags.
“They are really excited that they are going to be able to send a message to people that they don’t even know,” said third grade teacher Amy Vest.
