The city of Destin will hold its annual Founder’s Day celebration May 2 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Destin Community Center, 101 Stahlman Avenue.
The day celebrates the city’s founding families and will feature a fish fry, a dessert contest and a meet and greet with the founding families.
Food will be served from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Founders eat for free, then a $5 donation is asked of guests.
After Founder’s Day, residents are invited to attend a the re-christening of the seine boat the Primrose at the Destin History and Fishing Museum at 1 p.m. After spending years across the street, the Primrose will now be housed at the museum, along with the original Destin Post Office.
The museum would like to recognize anyone with those special memories from an earlier Destin. The Destin History and Fishing Museum is located at 108 Stahlman Avenue. For more information contact the museum at 837-6611 or email kathydestinhistory@gmail.com.
