With the end of the school year less than a month away, Destin Elementary School is celebrating this week with their annual end-of-year field day week. Each day a different grade will take to the turf to vie for the coveted first place spot. Tradition at DES holds that the winning classroom for each grade will hold a trophy for the entire upcoming school year.
Monday saw nine first grade classes go head-to-head participating in games such as football toss, baggy clothes relay, wet sponge relay and an all time favorite, cheese-ball your teacher game. Later the children took to the track for traditional races and events. Destin’s field day is put on each year by the PTO as a fun way to celebrate the completion of another school year.
