An inaugural car show hosted by the American Legion Post 296 this past Saturday was a huge success. About 500 people came out to view the 180 specialty cars on display along Main Street. The crowd enjoyed burgers, hotdogs, and a beer garden as well as kids activities such as face painting and crafts while supporting local veteran charity, Building Homes for Heroes.

“Everybody had a great time and we will be doing it every year,” said Ron Sandstead, who participated in the event. “Everyone was laid back and just enjoyed walking around looking at the cars. Next year should be even bigger and better.”

Notable volunteers included the Boy Scouts, active duty Air Force volunteers, the Destin Water Users, and American Legion members; Ed Reyes, Dean Sharpe and Skip Overdier.
