Sheriff's Activity Report for May

In the city limits of Destin, the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office reported a total of 3,429 calls for service during the month of May. Of those, 1,753 calls came during the day shift and 1,676 during the night shift.

As for property crimes in the city, there were a total of 53 reported. The breakdown was: 21 Larceny-Theft; 19 burglary; 10 criminal mischief; and three motor vehicle thefts. From April to May, the property crimes dropped by 10.

Looking at violent crimes, the report shows two robberies. Compared to the month prior, violent crimes increased by one.

As for the city's roadways, there were a total of 568 traffic violations/stops in the month of May, compared to 544 in April.

The traffic violations/stops breakdown into: 433 warnings; 96 citations; 23 arrests and 16 DUIs. There were a total of 105 traffic crashes in May. Of those, 99 saw no injuries. The 105 traffic crashes were an increase from the 96 in April.
