Destin’s smallest soccer stars are starting out on the right foot with the new summer program Little Feet Soccer. Open to three and four year old children, the workshop seeks to introduce the sport to the rising generation of city league players.
“It’s basically just a way for us to find out if they like soccer so they can come back and play in the fall,” said Parks and Recreation Program Coordinator Nick Coleman.
Seven children arrived for the first day of the program Wednesday, eager to try out the sport. Some youngsters were timid and took their time with the drills, while others ran as fast as their little feet could take them.
Coleman led the children in several balancing, dribbling, and shooting drills and encouraged each child along the way to try their best and have fun.
