Vegetation in your yard has certain restrictions when it comes to sidewalks and roadways for safety. Vegetation next to a sidewalk has to be at least a foot away from both sides of the walkway and trees need a 10-foot overheard clearance. This provides a clear walking patch for pedestrians or travel lane for bicyclists. Vegetation next to a roadway has to be at least two feet from the edge of the roadway and have a 15-foot overhead clearance. This provides safe and quick access for large vehicles such as ambulances and fire trucks.
