Man accused of hitting woman, child

A 35-year-old man is accused of hitting a woman and a young boy while at a car wash.

Okaloosa County Sheriff's deputies were called for the disturbance on July 8 around 4:15 p.m., according to the arrest report. The woman said she and a 12-year-old boy were at the car wash cleaning their vehicle.

Victor Lamar Williams was also at the car wash and struck the woman in the shoulder with a fist, the report said. The report indicates that Williams and the woman knew each other, but does not say how.

The boy told Williams to "be cool" and Williams grabbed and "slung" the child with both hands before pinning him to the vehicle, according to the report. Williams allegedly held the boy in a "head-lock" before the woman pulled him off the boy.

The boy said Williams said he was going to "put (the boy) in (his) place," the report said. He said he believed Williams struck him because he tried to stop Williams from striking the woman again.

Williams is charged with cruelty toward a child and battery.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 18.

Man accused of trespassing while armed with hammer

A 59-year-old Destin man is accused of trespassing on a property armed with a hammer and threatening a man who asked him to leave.

Okaloosa County Sheriff's deputies were called on July 5 around 7 p.m., according to the arrest report. The victim was on a property on Benning Drive when he was approached by a man identified as Christopher Bernard Paske.

The victim told Paske to leave the property multiple times, but Paske refused, the report said. Paske allegedly armed himself with a 10-inch hammer while continuing to refuse orders to leave.

Fearing for his safety, the victim found a 4-foot long plastic pole, according to the report. Paske allegedly swung the hammer at the victim more than once, and the victim struck Paske with the plastic pole to avoid being hit with the hammer.

Witnesses reported similar accounts, the report said.

Paske is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and trespassing on a property while armed.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 18.
