As families around the state prepare for another school year, Department of Education Commissioner Pam Stewart and Department of Revenue Executive Director Marshall Stranburg are reminding residents about an opportunity to save money on school supplies and clothing.
Stewart said, “The first day of school is one of the most exciting times of the year and the 10-day Back-to-School Sales Tax
The 2015 sales tax holiday began Aug. 7 and ends Sunday, Aug. 16, during which time qualifying school supplies and clothing can be purchased without paying local and state sales tax.
“We urge parents to consider taking advantage of this year’s Back-to-School Sales Tax
The Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday applies to clothing, footwear and certain accessories for $100 or less per item and on certain school supplies of less than $15 per item, as well as the first $750 of the price of a home computer and certain computer–related accessories purchased for noncommercial home or personal use.
