COL. BUD DAY MEMORIAL live updates

The Daily News will update this feature throughout the day with information about Col. George E. "Bud" Day's memorial service at the Emerald Coast Convention Center this morning, followed by a procession to Barrancas National Cemetery aboard Pensacola Naval Air Station for burial at 3 p.m.

3:37 p.m. - Attendees are leaving Col. Day's funeral at Barrancas.

3:25 p.m. - Flyover of F-4 Phantoms from Tyndall Air Force Base takes place at Barrancas, according to Daily News staff writer Angel McCurdy.

2:50 p.m. - The hearse has arrived at Barrancas.

2:44 p.m. - Ross perot just arrived ahead of the processcional (tweet from @Nicktnwfdn).

2:40 p.m. - Daily News staff writer Angel McCurdy says preparations are complete at Barrancas.

1:32 p.m. - The last car of the procession for Col. Bud Day just passed Hurlburt's main gate (tweet from @laurenrnwfdn).

1:15 p.m. - Daily News staff writer Lauren Reinlie reports soldiers and flag-wavers gathered around Brooks Bridge to pay their respects to Col. Day.

1 p.m. - The procession is now rolling.

12:41 p.m. - The service ended with a video clip of Col. Bud Day climbing into a cockpit, taxiing down and runway and soaring off into a clear blue sky (tweet from @laurenrnwfdn).

12:26 p.m. - We're hearing on the scanner that the service at the convention center is now ending. Local law enforcement is gearing up for traffic control.

12:15 p.m. - Daily News photographer Nick Tomecek is in Navarre and says flags have been placed along U.S. Highway 98 to honor the memory of Col. Day.

12:10 p.m. - Col. Day's funeral procession will start between 12:30 and 1 p.m. from the Emerald Coast Convention Center, according to a tweet from the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office.

10:52 a.m. - Heavy rain is falling in Fort Walton Beach. Take your umbrellas or raincoats if you're attending the procession.

10:45 a.m. - We are told a large contingent of Col. Day supporters has gathered in the Winn-Dixie parking lot at Navarre.

10:15 a.m. - Steady stream of people entering the emerald coast convention center to view Col. Bud Day. Funeral service starts at 11 (tweet from @laurenrnwfdn).

9:56 a.m. - Daily News staff photographer Devon Ravine tweets that over 90 Patriot Riders have turned out to escort Col. Day to Barrancas.

9:33 a.m. - If you're planning to watch the procession along U.S. 98, you can expect a 60 percent chance of showers, according to the National Weather Service, mainly before 1 p.m.

9:24 a.m. - The parking lot is nearly full for Col. #BudDay 's funeral at the Emerald Coast Convention Center. Funeral begins at 11am (tweet from @nicktnwfdn).

9:05 a.m. - The public has begun filing in to the Emerald Coast Convention Center (tweet from @devonrnwfdn).

8:43 a.m. - The Patriot Riders just showed up en masse for Col. Bud Day's funeral at the Emerald Coast Convention Center (tweet from @laurenrnwfdn).

8:19 a.m. - TRAFFIC: US Highway 98 within the city limits of Fort Walton Beach will be closed to traffic from the start of the Bud Day procession at about 12:30 to 1 p.m.

The roadway will re-open as soon as the complete procession has cleared a particular intersection. It is believed that there will be an estimated 300 to 500 vehicles involved in the parade.

It is recommended that if a person is traveling to Pensacola between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m., they take Interstate 10. This procession will travel from the Emerald Coast Convention Center on Okaloosa Island to Pensacola Naval Air Station Barrancas National Cemetery.
