Wine delivered to your door

Almost anywhere in Destin, there is a convenience or liquor store nearby. For those who don't want to, or shouldn't, drive to the store, a new local business is bringing wine, champagne, beer and cigars right to their doorstep.

Deliver My Wine owner Jeff Blair has created an easy way for people to get alcohol and cigars throughout the area without having to brave the hectic traffic.

"We were watching sports on TV and traffic in Destin was horrible. We didn't feel like actually driving to the package store to buy our own beer for the game. So we created a company to do it," Blair told The Log. "It's basically a package store that the customer doesn't come to us. We come to them."

While convenience is a big selling point for the company, safety was also an inspiration for Blair.

"I have a son that's 21 years old," Blair told The Log. "I'd much rather him use a service like Deliver My Wine than be out somewhere and risking injury to himself and others."

The ordering process is simple. Customers log on to DeliverMyWine.com, and then click on the "Shop Now" tab. They then choose from wine, beer, champagne or cigars. Customers pick their brand and quantity, and supply their name, email address, phone number and delivery address at checkout.

A Deliver My Wine representative will contact the customer to confirm their order and schedule the delivery. Deliver My Wine claims they will deliver orders within about one hour of order confirmation. Upon delivery, the customer who ordered the products must provide a valid I.D. proving they are 21 or older.

Deliver My Wine accepts cash or card upon delivery, which is available anywhere within a 30-minute drive of Destin. There is no order too large. The minimum order is $25. The company's current delivery hours are 9 a.m. until midnight.

"We will expand when the tourist season comes back around," Blair said.

The website lists about 15 different wines, two champagnes, 20 beers and 20 cigars to choose from. Blair said he will try to add brands and labels his customers request at a later date.

"They are welcome to call us and we will arrange to start carrying the products that they like," Blair said.

Blair developed Deliver My Wine in the spring while he started his other business, Destin Auto Rentals, which he opened in December of last year. Deliver My Wine has been open since mid-July.

He said the Delivery My Wine buys their products from a few local distributors.
