The Destin Library will happily play host to one of the most beloved children's characters of all time on May 30 as part of the library's "Big Read — Digging into Reading," summer events programs that’s geared toward children and young adults.
Arthur Read, the title character in author Marc Brown's popular children's books will make a stop at the Destin Library, courtesy of WSRE Public Television for the Gulf Coast (Pensacola). Parents will also have access to PBS' KIDS summer reading program from Jeni Huckstep, educational services coordinator for WSRE Pensacola.
"Arthur will be here from 9:30 until 10:15," said Will Rogers, youth services librarian at the Destin Library. "The story-time program on this date will highlight Arthur's adventures with readings and activity pages."
Enjoying story-time with the other children, 8-year-old aardvark Arthur will sit back, relax and listen to some of his stories as they are read aloud by library staff. During his visit, Arthur will also greet the other children attending story-time and pose for pictures with them.
Although the story-time program is free, seating is limited to 60, so parents with interested children ages 6-years-old-and-under should arrive early to ensure their seat.
