It's almost time for the 5th annual Christmas in the Village Craft Show.
This Saturday and Sunday, vendors will set up in the gymnasium at the Destin Community Center and offer a huge variety of goods, including handmade jewelry, artwork, books, Christmas ornaments and much more.
"It's a great place to pick up Christmas decorations and gifts," Destin public information manager Doug Rainer told The Log.
All 74 vendor spots have been booked. Rainer said he expects large crowds to make their way through the Community Center over the weekend.
"It will be standing room only," Rainer said.
Jana Baldwin of All Things Girlfriend has set up a table at the event several years in a row and will be back again this weekend. Her business sells specialty yarns, as well as handmade jewelry, art and clothes. All Things Girlfriend also offers free classes in how to make such goods.
One of the biggest draws for her is the high number of out-of-towners who attend the craft show.
"It helps us with our website and our mail-order stuff," Baldwin told The Log. "They see what we have and they want to learn how to do it. Sometimes they are here for a month or so and we can teach them. Then, when they go home, they order."
Baldwin said the show draws a large number of people looking for Christmas gifts.
"It's usually very busy with people doing their last-minute Christmas shopping for something unique," Baldwin said. "We have a lot of handmade stuff at this show, not just us, but everybody."
The Destin Log's own food writer Pam Griffin will also be on-hand at the craft show. She will be selling her famous recipe books, including "Christmas Cookies 'Round the World" and “Christmas Appetizers ‘Round the World.”

The Christmas in the Village Craft Show is free to the public. Doors open at 9 a.m. Saturday and close at 4 p.m. Sunday, the show will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
