Ongoing construction to the West Marine of Destin will more than double the size of the retailer once complete.
The Watsonville, Calif.-based boating, fishing and clothing retailer's location on Highway 98 is expanding the size of the store, as well as the products it offers.
"We're expanding electronics, clothing, stand-up paddleboards, engine parts, rods, reels, tackle, motors, everything. We're even carrying pet products, which will be something a little different than what we have now," assistant manager Ami Bass told The Log.
In early January, the retail store will move part of its operation into the new space while contractors renovate the current location. The renovation is scheduled to be completed in the first half of March.
"We're at about 6,000 square feet now. We'll be a little over 13,000 when we have the new store," Bass said.
Bass said the construction hasn't affected the current business operations.
"We're still open for business. You just have to be willing to listen to a little bit of noise here and there," Bass said.
West Marine owns and operates more than 300 stores in North America and offers more than 75,000 products online and in stores.
