DESTIN — A 33-year-old construction worker was flown to a hospital Wednesday after he fell from a balcony at an apartment complex construction site.
The man, whose identity wasn’t immediately available, fell four stories and suffered multiple injuries, according to Darrel Welborn, the shift commander for Okaloosa Medical Services. He was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.
He was working at 4201 W. Commons Drive when he fell about 10:50 a.m., according to Destin firefighters.
Georgia-based Davis Development is developing Venue Emerald Coast, an upscale luxury apartment community at the site.
A telephone message left at the business was unreturned Thursday.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the accident.
