Man accused of splitting pregnant woman's lip

A man is accused of punching the expectant mother of his child in the lip, causing it to split and bleed, according to an arrest report.

The incident took place at an apartment complex on Dancing Cloud Court. An Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputy responded to the address after receiving a report that a woman was being sheltered by other residents who witnessed part of an attack.

The woman, who was holding an ice pack to her lip, communicated to the deputy that her boyfriend in the unit across the hall had punched her in the face. The deputy noted the woman’s lip was swollen, lacerated and bleeding. She also had a bruise on her thigh.

The boyfriend, 26-year-old Rogelio Garcia-Caballero of Destin, told the deputy in broken English that he only pushed her and she hit her lip against the door.

A witness said the woman ran into the hallway screaming and claimed Garcia-Caballero had hit her in the face. She was bleeding from the mouth.

The woman was six months pregnant.

Garcia-Caballero was charged with battery offender should have known victim was pregnant and will face a judge on March 18.

‘Highly intoxicated' man bounces back to jail after trespassing at Kangaroo Jack's

A “highly intoxicated” man was arrested after he was spotted by an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputy walking across the property of restaurant he’d been told to stay away from.

A deputy was dispatched to Kangaroo Jack's on Harbor Boulevard to deal with the alleged trespassing. When he got there the deputy saw Daniel Alan Settle, 33, no address listed, just outside the restaurant’s property. He had already been issued a trespass warning for the property, according to an arrest report.

The deputy reminded Settle he’d been told to say off the property, and the deputy noted “he was in a highly intoxicated condition.”

The deputy left, but when he turned around he saw Settle crossing the parking lot of Kangaroo Jack’s and arrested him.

Settle was charged with trespassing and was to enter a plea on Feb. 25.
