Sandy Tanksley and Mike Odom of Destin enjoyed lunch at Malibu Jack’s Café with Tanksley’s horses, EJ and Roper.
Tanksley, born and raised in Destin and now residing in Holt, brought the horses to Destin for a veterinary appointment with Village Veterinarian on Wednesday. She decided the sunny weather was perfect for a ride from Beach Drive to the open-air restaurant.
“They actually ate the food,” Tanksley said, noting that the staff brought out apples, and that the horses finished off her meal as well. Tanksley is a horse-show jumper, and owns 28 horses. Her business, “Ride on the Water” offers trail rides, and other tours along the Blackwater River.
Her newest venture, retail store in Holt, “Twin Rivers, Horse, Hunt and Fish,” will carry everything from fishing gear to horse feed. Tanksley told The Log, that plans are in the works for a benefit horse trail ride to raise money for a local charity in Destin, maybe as soon as April.
