The upcoming summer vacation isn't the only reason students at Destin Middle School have been celebrating this week. The 7th and 8th grade students who have been in one of Tamela Carty’s business technology classes at Destin Middle School — Introduction to Information Technology (IT) and/or the Foundations of Web Design — had the opportunity to stretch their web-savvy muscles while earning various technology-based certifications.
More than 40 students earned their Certified Internet Web (CIW) Professional certification in one or more programs; Microsoft Word 2010, Excel 2010, PowerPoint 2010 and CIW Site Development Associate Certificate. "Needless to say, I am extremely proud of my students," said Carty. "Some of them earned high school and college credits, too."
