CRAB ISLAND – Investigators are sorting through more than a dozen statements to find out whether an arrest is warranted in an incident at Crab Island Saturday afternoon.
Callers reported that a “well-built male” punched a woman in the face Saturday afternoon about 4:30, according to the Call History Record from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.
Spokeswoman Nicole Wagner said the case will be sent to the State Attorney’s Office for a decision on whether to press charges.
Numerous friends of the victim and the suspect submitted witness statements.
“They’re still trying to make sense of it,” Wagner said. “There’s a whole lot of contradictory statements.”
The male was on a pontoon boat with 10 other people, according to the Sheriff’s Office report. Though the caller said the alleged attacker was trying to leave the scene at the time, Wagner said he has been identified.
Someone who identified herself as a friend of the victim said the man opened a cut over the 18-year-old girl’s eye.
Wagner said the incident is under investigation.
