The Log’s Facebook page saw plenty of chatter after sharing that Destin ranked number nine in the top 20 small cities in Florida in a line-up by City Described.  Some shared what aspects they think made Destin a top city and some shared concerns over the city as a whole.

Greg Porch: Not the pay $$$$$$$$

Margie Davis: Stop talking about how great Destin is so people will stop coming and the roads and beaches will not be as crowded.

Jim Boothe: I like Destin, but it's biggest problem is traffic! Way too congested, and it takes forever to traverse from point ‘A’ to point ‘B’. I’d much prefer to go just a 20 minute drive east to the communities of South Walton.

Tripp Williams: I moved back to Destin last year and it was the biggest mistake. There is not anything to do there but drink and fish, or both! Everything revolves around drinking there. You can only go to the beach, or crab island so much. I'm back in Orlando where there is always something to do and the beach is only an hour away. It is more fun to visit Destin then it is to live there!

Marty Bullock: In terms of what makes a "small town" great, quintessential small towns aren't bloated and growing "too big for their britches"(as my mom used to say when I was a kid) Destin started to lose that with the development progress around the mid to late 90's and into the 2,000's if I can picture it in my head. I was headed home just last night on Benning & Mountain Drive and I see the bits and pieces of memories of "small town" Destin behind HWY 98.

Elaine Honeycutt: Nowhere near the place it was when I lived there. Much too crowded and has lost its appeal...over developed and too many restaurants and condos.

Brent Andrew Tucker: It's a city set apart! Our leaders of this city love the Lord and their relationship with Christ reflects in their work. Proud to be apart of this community.

Betty Marler Archer: This is where I use to spend my summer with my Grandmother and Grandfather Marler ....was not this your right ...I miss the small town and there Motel and cottages and the restaurant.

Stacey Rambo: I love Destin! It was my daughters second beach trip at 2 years old. Got to know mom loves the beach!

Carol Davis Flynn: Love it. South Florida way too crowded.

Lonna Mcgrew: Destin should have been number one it is beautiful, one of the cleanest city's I have been to!

Donna Maria Simmons: It sure isn't a "Sleepy Little Fishing Village" anymore, that is sad.

Tabitha Chung: That beautiful beach!!

Dan Miller: I would have ranked it higher.

Susan Ory: Number one in my book!

Lloyd Peters: Love to stay out Fort Morgan road. Quiet and peaceful. But I am old now!
