Eleven-year-old soccer player and Destin local, Adriana Figueroa, had her eyes glued to the screen on Sunday as the Women’s World Cup Final pitted teams
Four years ago, she watched with the rest of the world as this pairing ended in a loss for team

Adriana’s 10-year-old brother, Luis Jose (LJ) Figueroa also watched the game with the group as part of the Chivas FC boys squad. When asked if the game inspired him, and other boys like him, he said, “If they win, that means I can win.”
Echoing the popular hashtag #OneNationOneTeam, LJ confirmed the fact that sports really do bring the country together, and also proved that the Women’s team can inspire young girls and boys alike.
“I want to play soccer for as long as I can play,” said LJ. “And I want to play in professionals.”
