Flying high: Destin Middle School holds cheer camp

On Thursday, chanting was heard from the Destin Community Center gym while the Destin Middle School Cheerleaders held a camp for children ages five to 12. Here aspiring cheerleaders could improve their coordination, enthusiasm, attitude, team spirit and confidence.

“It is nice to see my cheerleaders interact with the younger girls,” said Destin Middle School Cheerleading Coach Kim Berry.

Berry explained that the team offers to host this camp in order to gain the gym’s space for a fundraising dance later in the year. She said this arrangement has been going on for more than 10 years, and they plan on continuing the tradition next year.
